O Noir Restaurant, It's better in the dark!

I’ve been living in Montreal for about a year and the “O Noir” Restaurant simply stole my heart. Eating in the darkness is one of the best experiences in my life, tourists can’t miss it. The food was of excellent quality and tasty, no complains about that. After a few minutes I understood how the table was set; with the tips of my fingers I touched everything to avoid making any mistakes, e.g. splashing liquids, of course is ok to eat like a caveman, nobody will blame you. In the middle of the meal I no longer needed my eyes to enjoy.

Best of all was the service. Waiters are all legally blind. “This means that their sight is equivalent or less than a tenth of the sight of an average person. The blind people are the most capable of working in the dark. A percentage of Onoir’s profits are given to support local associations that serve blind and visually impaired people of all ages.” This is an amazing business started by Jorge Spielmann, a blind pastor in Zurich who used to blindfold his dinner guests at his home so they could share his eating experience.
